CYCLING

Several local, shops, sports facilities, and the University Campus are accessible within 15 minutes of Warwick Cannon Park. Route 52 of the National Cycle Network which runs north from Warwick through Coventry, Nuneaton and Coalville to link with National Route 6 just west of Loughborough.

Route 52 is mostly on-road, however, does include some off-road cycle tracks in proximity to the site, such as a track between the edge of Kenilworth and the University of Warwick.

 

A shared footway / cycleway is provided on the northern side of Shultern Lane to the north of the site which extends along the eastern boundary of the site. An off-road cycle route is provided between the Sir William Lyons Road / Lynchgate Road roundabout and the University of Warwick Campus. There is a segregated cycleway on Charter Avenue between Cannon Hill Road roundabout and Sir Henry Parkes Roundabout.

Benefits of Cycling

Cycling is sociable – it provides a fantastic way to share some time with friends and family. 

Cycling is ‘green’ – you can feel good about doing your bit for the environment. 

Cycling is quick – for short journeys under 5 miles cycling is usually the fastest way to get around – and you won’t get stuck in traffic.

Cycling is cheap – no bus, train or season tickets required. 

Cycling is convenient – it gets you ‘door-to-door’, with a guaranteed arrival time. 

Cycling is fun – and helps you explore your local environment.

Pay as you ride?

For pedal bikes you pay a £1 fee for unlocking the bike, then 5p per minute of cycling.

Example: Unlock the bike and ride for 15 minutes. You pay: £1 + (5p x 15 minutes) = £1 + 75p = £1.75.

For e-bikes you pay a £1.50 fee for unlocking the bike, then 10p per minute of cycling.

Example: You unlock the eBike and ride for 15 minutes. You pay: £1.50 + (10p x 15 minutes) = £1.50 + £1.50 = £3.

Minute Bundles

You can buy a 100, 300 or 600 minute bundle upfront and the minutes gets deducted from your balance depending on how long you ride for.

 

For pedal bikes there is no unlocking fee.

 

Example: You unlock the bike and ride for 15 minutes. You pay: 5p x 15 minutes = 75p.

 

For e-bikes you pay a £1.50 fee for unlocking the bike, then 5p per minute of cycling.

 

Example: You unlock the eBike and ride for 15 minutes. You pay: £1.50 + (5p x 15 minutes) = £1.50 + 75p = £2.25.

How to Ride?
It’s easy to hop on a bike to get to university, pop to the shops, or even to discover new places to explore!

  • Unlock – Using the Beryl cycle hire app

  • Ride – Have fun and be safe

  • Dock – Find your nearest docking station to park up 

  • Lock – Close the lock to end your ride

There are two ways to ride, either via pay as you ride or by purchasing minutes bundles.
